All you need to join is a picture ID and a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit card or a debit card with a Visa or MasterCard logo. If you don't have a credit card, you can still open an account but you will need to leave a cash deposit for each title you rent. There is a minimum of $25 cash deposit for each title. To sign you up, we'll go over some of the policies with you, get your address and phone number and then you're good to go.
Yes, you can add as many friends or family to your rental account as you want. Please remember that you are responsible for ALL of the additional people on your account. This means that if all six of your roommates and your little brother go on a vacation to Denmark for a month and forget to return their rentals, you are ultimately responsible for all of the resulting late fees - that's an extreme scenario but something to consider. Adding users to your account also gives he/she permission to use the credit card on file for deposits and rentals. If you have a user under the age of 18 who does not have a photo ID, we can establish a password for rental and establish rating restrictions.
The Seventh Art: Italian film theoretician Ricciotta Canudo gave cinema the label "The Seventh Art" in his manifesto published in 1911.
He argued that cinema was a new art, "a suberb conciliation of the six ancient arts: architecture, scultpure, painting, music, poetry and dance."
We don't have a membership card; just bring in a valid picture ID and be ready to show it to us when you rent. If someone is authorised to rent on your account, he or she will need to give us your name (the name your account is under) and have his/her picture ID ready. If you haven't rented in awhile, please be ready to update your credit card number, address and phone number. You do not need a rental membership to buy merchandise.
Rental items are due by 8:00pm. There is a one hour grace period - so 'technically' rentals are due back by 8:59pm. At 9:00pm the rental(s) will show up as late on your account.
Late fees are the full rental cost per day*, per title. For example, if you have two $4.50 rentals out and are two days late, your late fee would be $18. We do understand that occasionally you won't be able to make it in on time. You are always welcome to bring rentals you know to be late to the attention of a manager. We'll do our best to help you out.
The easiest way to avoid late fees is by renewing your rentals. Just call the store before 9:00pm on the due date and we'll check them out to you again. Standard rental fees apply when titles are renewed and you can pay via the credit card you have on file or use your pre-purchased credits. Titles on reserve for other members cannot be renewed.
When the store is closed, we open up the safe, secure night-drop located in our front doors that accommodate DVD and VHS. LaserDiscs, machines and some of the larger multiple disc sets must be returned during our normal business hours.
If you need to know when your rentals are due, just give us a call.
Note: New Release titles can NOT be placed on reserve.
To reserve a title for a specific date, it is recommended you call the store at (03) 9818 6177. That way, we can instantly tell you the availability of any title and answer any questions.
Alternatively, you can fill out the form on our Contact page.
